The classical learning experience is enriched through fine arts - art, drama and music.
Art
All students, preschool through 8th grade, receive instruction in art. Students learn the basics elements and principles of art and are shown how to apply these in drawings, paintings, mixed media, and sculptures. Student art is celebrated with an the of year-end Art Show.
Projects are created through a variety of media such as:
- Charcoal
- Pen/Pencil
- Pastels
- Watercolor
- Chalk
- Mixed Media
Through a variety of art projects, students gain exposure to particular techniques
and are able to experiment with several different types of media. Each
grade is also exposed to an introductory level of art history that
corresponds with their classroom studies - understanding how art can express
a culture’s worldview. Famous artists are studied and students replicate their work and/or their techniques.
Drama
Students in every grade enhance their learning through drama. Books, stories and history come alive as the students present dramatic productions on stage. From Shakespeare's plays to Charlotte's Web to the founding of America, students increase their learning through acting.
Music
In music, students explore the many facets of musical education. In music theory students learn rhythm, dynamics, tempo, notes and other symbols through various activities and games. In music appreciation, they explore great works of the masters as well as distinguish time periods, types of instruments and music styles. In choir, students are taught how use their voices correctly while learning Latin chants, traditional hymns, and worship songs.
