Our History
Sandhills Classical Christian School opened its doors in August 1999. It represented concerted efforts and convictions of several individuals in the community – Max Stanton, Jamie Bransford and Dr. George James. Their goal was to provide high-quality Christian education for children in the Sandhills region. These individuals researched, attended seminars and held interviews with Board members and staff of other classical Christian schools in the country before deciding on the classical Christian methodology.
The 1999-2000 school year began with one Kindergarten class with five students. Now in our eleventh year, SCCS offers Kindergarten through 8th grade and has over 100 students. The school also oversees the Little Friends of SCCS preschool that provides classes for pre-kindergarteners and 3 and 4 year-olds. Our student body and faculty represent over 25 different local churches.
SCCS currently has six School Board members and operates under the school’s by-laws and provides policies to the staff for implementation in the school. The session of elders at Sandhills Presbyterian Church provides spiritual oversight to SCCS. More information on the School Board’s operation and policies may be obtained from the school office.
